Financial Analysis 201 is part of NCG's 2012 workshop series Financial Analysis For Grantmakers. Learn more >>
Planning in today's uncertain environment requires both nonprofit leaders and their funders to know where an organization stands financially, and to understand how much financial risk they can tolerate. To make good decisions, we not only need accurate, up-to-date, and clear financial information, but also the ability to interpret and use this financial information as we plan and manage our grantmaking programs.
This engaging, day-long interactive workshop provided an in-depth look at nonprofit finance, due diligence, and implications for grantmaking. Participants received a brief refresher of materials covered in Financial Analysis 101, learned the challenges of the nonprofit finance model and received hands on experience assessing a nonprofit's financial health through case study analysis.
The first half of the day focused on the nuts and bolts of financial analysis; the second half of day focused on applying learning through case study discussions.
This workshop is best suited to the needs of grantmakers for whom financial due diligence is a component (or desired component) of the grantmaking process. Grantmakers who have taken NCG's Financial Analysis 101 or who currently have a working knowledge of reviewing nonprofit financial data were encouraged to enroll.
