COF Salary Survey: Call for Participants

Northern California Grantmakers is proud to partner with the Council on Foundations and the Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers on the 2012 Grantmakers Salary and Benefits Survey. This survey collects data on compensation, staff demographics and benefits costs across a wide range of positions and grantmaking entities including community, private, and public foundations and corporate grantmakers. We're also pleased to announce that this year the Council has expanded eligibility to include operating foundations and other grantmakers like United Way organizations and federations. However, only grantmakers with paid staff are eligible for participation

This annual survey is one of the most important and effective tools produced for our field, and we encourage you to participate. With your help, the 2012 Grantmakers Salary and Benefits Report will provide critical information needed to determine fair compensation across multiple organizational levels. Your participation will also enrich the pool of available data for our region and allow us receive compensation reports that reflect our membership.

All online survey respondents will receive:

  • Early access to the compensation summary for your foundation type (estimated delivery: July 2012)
  • Free access to the online benchmarking tool (if you complete the survey online)
  • Free PDF of the 2012 Grantmakers Salary and Benefits Report ($80 value)

More Participation Equals A Better Snapshot of the Field

It is in our mutual best interests to gather as much data as possible so that this survey is useful and reflective of the field. With your help, the "2012 Grantmakers Salary and Benefits Report" will provide critical information needed to determine fair compensation across multiple organizational levels.

Participate Online

Because the survey is conducted at an organizational level, you will need to designate an appropriate staff person as the survey contact. To request a user account, the survey contact should email the Council on Foundations Research Department at resrchdept@cof.org. This email should include the contact's name, title, and phone number plus your organization's name, type and address.

Once an account has been established, the survey contact will receive a survey invitation by email with their personal log-in information and a link to the survey.

The Council continues to conduct major surveys in partnership with the Foundation Center, and your primary contact will be a Foundation Center staff person who will answer questions about the survey and user accounts. The Grantmakers Salary and Benefits Survey remains an initiative of the Council, and the data confidentiality and use policies are unchanged.

New Corporate Survey for 2012

Due to the difficulty of surveying corporate grantmakers at an organizational level, the Council is developing a new compensation survey for individual corporate grantmaking professionals. This survey will launch later this spring. If you would like to participate, please contact the Research Department at resrchdept@cof.org. As with all our surveys, respondents will receive a free copy of the corporate compensation report.
