Phase III: Response
After a disaster hits, respond to immediate needs
The response phase of the disaster cycle immediately follows a disaster. The focus of this phase is to provide immediate assistance to meet immediate needs such as maintaining life and health, providing basic human services, and supporting morale in the affected area. The Response stage is focused on immediate and short term needs rather than permanent and sustainable solutions to both the human and structural effects of disasters.
