Grantmaker members of the California regional associations of philanthropy are working together on an important and exciting opportunity to impact the health and well-being of communities throughout California. With support from the Blue Shield of California Foundation, we are convening select stakeholders to explore developing a collaborative funding approach for supporting school-based health centers in California, built from a cross-sector partnership among the philanthropic, independent and public sectors that will respond to emerging needs and opportunities.
School-based health centers (SHCs) are a vital and growing point of access to health care for many children. Thirty-five SHCs in California received $14 million in federal Health Resources and Services Administration grants last July, helping to build the momentum.
In 2012, the Funder Advisory Group will facilitate a discussion among health funders and leaders from healthcare organizations to explore how a funding collaborative might support SHCs in their critical role in building a strong healthcare system.
The Funder Advisory Group is comprised of representatives from the following organizations
NCG members and regional grantmakers with an interest in community health are encouraged to follow and engage in this work. Send an email to collaboratives at ncg dot org and an NCG staff member will be in touch.
