The East Bay Community Foundation quickly recognized that if passed, Proposition 54, the Classification by Race, Ethnicity, Color, or National Origin Initiative, would have a severely negative effect on the at-risk communities that the foundation serves. The foundation took a public stand against the proposition and educated the community and its grantees about its potential consequences.
